Work sessions

We meet at the bottom of the Roedale Allotments by our green storage container. To find us, go up Golf Drive to the parking area, turn left, and look for the allotment gates on the right. The Brighton and Hove bus number 50 stops at Burstead Close at the bottom of Golf Drive.

The sessions are held on alternate Saturdays and Sundays on the first weekend of every month from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

All members and others are welcome to join us.  There is no obligation to stay for the whole morning or to attend every work day: it is entirely up to you how many hours you do or how often you come, but you will always be made very welcome.  Gloves and tools are provided but wear sturdy footwear. For tasks such as tree thinning and planting a new hedge, training is given. The work is not too strenuous and we always stop for a break with tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Children accompanied by a parent or other adult are welcome to attend work sessions, but with safety as a priority, please note that it is the responsibility of the accompanying parent or adult to ensure that children are safe at all times, in respect both of their own activities and keeping a prudent distance from the activities of others.  Looking after their children may well limit a parent’s own contribution to a workday, but the Friends of Hollingbury and Burstead Woods group cannot, and does not, accept responsibility for the welfare of children during work sessions.
